Age Concern Ashburton
July 26, 2022

Thank You Manchester Unity!
As we age and lose our social connections, the ability to form new friendships becomes harder. Loneliness and sadness can, and do, become a reality for many older people in our communities.

Great family support can help, but it’s nice to have one’s ‘own place’ to belong with other like minded people.

206 Club is that place for around 50 of Ashburton’s older citizens. Here they are valued for who they are, we validate them and their life and encourage them to join in, and even try new activities. Members enjoy companionship; activities and entertainment, where they like to laugh and have a bit of fun! It is a friendly, relaxed atmosphere where we supply morning tea, two course lunch and afternoon tea – all for a very small cost.

Manchester Unity Welfare Trust Board has granted us money each year for the past several years. It isn’t apportioned to any particular part of our programme, but is a big help as it costs around $55,000 a year to run.

So from us to you, we are very, very grateful, thank you.
